Gallstone diet secrets revealed!

Hi I’m Judy Seeger, traditional naturopath physician here to teach your about the best gallstone diet that can prevent gallstones from forming or help you dissolve the ones you already have!

Eating high fiber foods is a huge factor in preventing gallstones! Fiber reduces the absorption of something called deoxycholic acid. This simply means that the fiber keeps sweeping out the toxins that don’t belong in you!

The best foods that are high in fiber are oat bran, wheat bran, psyllium husks, pectin – yes eating apples and oatmeal is good, but these specific foods are much higher in fiber. Simply add a spoonful onto your cereal.

The proof of eating a high fiber diet has been shown in studies with vegetarians, The amount of gallstones they get is one tenth of what the average meat eating American gets.

Studies have also shown that drinking coffee is also beneficial for preventing gallstones. However, the downside of drinking coffee is the effects on the rest of your body like exhausting your adrenals (making you feel more hyper), or causing an acid stomach. Yes, you can avoid gallstones, but you’ll have other more serious problems. There are BETTER solutions!

Reduce the fat! Both on your body and in the foods you eat! The more fat on your body, the higher the chances of gallstones forming. That’s because the production of bile salt is reduced which becomes insufficient to break down fat and cholesterol.

The excess cholesterol and fat lessens the chances of emptying the gallbladder which can lead to stones forming. When you eat a diet high in fats, this adds to the risk of stones forming.

Here are examples of high fat foods you can substitute with low fat foods:

  • ice cream – sherbert or sorbet or low fat frozen yogurt
  • butter – coconut oil, olive oil
  • milk – rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk
  • yogurt – low fat or non fat yogurt
  • fried chicken – baked chicken

Watch the labels! You should only eat anything from a bag or can that has 5 grams of fat in a serving size of 100  grams

Drink a TON of water! Water flushes out toxins, and can help your liver so it doesn’t even want to start the process of forming any stones! Drink enough water so your urine is light yellow (not clear, since that can mean you’re drinking too much water)

  • Grapes juice
  • Apple juice

  • Papaya juice
  • Pear juice

  • Carrot juice
  • Dandelion green juice

Food to Avoid

  • Eggs
  • Pork
  • Onion
  • Milk
  • Coffee
  • Oranges
  • Corn
  • Beans
  • Nuts
  • Trans fats
  • Margarine
  • Fried food
  • Saturated fats
  • Red meat
  • Dairy products
  • Spicy food
  • Chocolate
  • Colas and all sodas
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • All legumes
  • Gluten containing grain like wheat
